Star Shed is a multi-aperture camera obscura chamber. Using the basic principles of light, each hole/aperture focuses light reflecting off the landscape onto a rear projection screen in the darkened shed. Each aperture projects a unique view of outside, upside down and backward, creating a kaleidoscope of images. The pattern is not random but that of the stars that are in the southern skies at this location and time of year but are invisible during daylight.
It was installed outside the McMaster Museum of Art, summer 2018. The Midnight Sun Camera Obscura Project was on exhibtion in the gallery during that time.
